Puerto Rican Folkloric Dance

Upcoming Performance - Celebrando 2000, May 6, 2000 at 7:30pm

Join us for a night of traditional dance, music, and history as Puerto Rican Folkloric Dance professional dancers and musicians, apprentices, and students celebrate the rich culture of Puerto Rico. We will be performing Bomba, Plena, Seis Chorreao, and other "bailes tipicos" from our Spanish, Taino and West African roots.

This spring's Celebrando debuts 19th century "Bailes de Salon" that flourished in the salons of elite, agricultural landowners. This new suite features "Danza" in authentic costuming, ballgowns, fans, white tie and tailcoats.

Admission - donations, children FREE. Concordia University's Schroeder Performance Hall at the Louise T. Peter Center building (3400 IH35 at 38-1/2 St.). Open seating. Free campus parking. Largest lot on IH35 access road, quick walk to theatre in rear of campus. Closest lot on Luther Lane behind university (38-1/2 to Red River. Left on Red River. Left on Luther Lane. Down the block on right side).
