Puerto Rican Folkloric Dance
Esperanza del la Herencia 2011
On May 22, 2011, PRFDance brought the rich heritage of Puerto Rico to
life with "Esperanza de la Herencia," a performance event dedicated to
inspiring Youth. With free admission to all children (under 18), this Recital
of our cultural arts students, backed by our PRFDance & Junior Performing
Companies displayed the rich variety of Puerto Rico's traditions, including
live music and dance performances of high energy Plena, Bomba, Jibaro music
with guitars and cuatros, as well as Danza, Vals, Salsa, Reggeaton,
and native Taino music.
This afternoon of lively performance and amazing variety was enhanced by
educational narrations that taught about our cultural history and traditions.
Children are the hope of the future. We hope this annual production inspires
them with a love for our culture that lasts a lifetime, and encourages
them to celebrate and transmit this joyful heritage to future generations.
We thank the City of Austin Mexican American Cultural Center for their
partnership that made this possible.
