Sembrando Herencia 2010
500 Years
There comes a time ... when why you were put on this earth becomes clear.
For Mari-a', that time came when she was a little girl ... 500 years ago.
Do you know the reason why you were put on this earth? It's an intriguing
question! On December 5, 2010, Puerto Rican Folkloric Dance debuted our
7th original musical "500 Years," the first-ever Tri-Lingual musical -- in
English, Spanish, and Taino -- by PRFDance Director Ana Maria Tekina-eiru'
Maynard in collaboration with Rupert Reyes, Director of Teatro Vivo.
This magical and inspiring story brought to light a cultural awakening whose
time has come. Featuring live traditional music and dance, "500 Years"
showcased near 50 of our own dancers, musicians, and performing arts students,
and passed on a heritage to a new generation.
Enjoy these dance and action scenes from our musical that took our audience
on a journey, from a Taino village in 1504, to a mountain cafetal in 1810,
to present day New York City, and back to Boriken! Can't get enough, here's
the full set of photos!
Can't wait till next year!
