Celebrando 2004 - The Pirates of Puerto Rico
Bomba of Southern Puerto Rico with Paracumbe

Shortcut to Performance Photos!
Celebrando is our annual, multi-phase project that trains our professional-level performing company in Puerto Rican traditions and culminates in a full-length, joint performance with masters from Puerto Rico. This year's special guest was Paracumbe' who brought us Bomba from Southern Puerto Rico. Our Celebrando 2004 project was a giant production involving two years of research, preparation and planning. Our 2004 project included:

o a swordfighting workshop to learn safe swordfighting techniques
o a barril-making workshop to learn to make bomba drums
o a master dance/music workshop to learn the Isla's Southern style
o a community workshop on plena and bomba for our community.

AND LAST but not least the culminating performances!!
o Celebrando 2004 our joint performance with Paracumbe from Puerto Rico.
o Debut of our first original musical, The Pirates of Puerto Rico

We hope you enjoy the photos linked to these pages!
