The felt pulled to return to the island. Little do they know it's an ancestral call to uncover secrets out in plain view. Failure will destroy mountains!
Exciting and funny play - written by Tekina-eiru Maynard - features original music, Puerto Rican Folkloric dances, and traditional sticks and machete fighting. Bilingual play based in Puerto Rican history and current events explores the value of preserving cultural heritage in these complex times -- when issues such as destruction of nature and gentrification are pitting modern progress and economic advancement against traditional values, nature, and community wellbeing.
This musical took place on December 11-12, 2021, at the Carver Theatre at the George Washington Carver Museum & Cultural Center, 1165 Angelina St, Austin, TX 78702.
ASK HOW YOU CAN SPONSOR FUTURE PROJECTS!

With much regret -- to protect the children, elders and our community -- we are cancelling our upcoming Octavitas with Reyes event. As you can see from the new cover photo, our annual event is VERY popular and social distancing is not possible.
Community transmission rate in our City has spiked to the highest levels (Stage 5) in the last couple of weeks. Protecting our community -- especially our young unvaccinated children is a priority.
We will organize a wonderful youth event this spring when COVID subsides and we can hold the event outdoors.
